MotoGP is certainly not the only thing you can enjoy on a trip to the Sachsenring. Here are our tips on what to do if you decide to stay in town a few days longer. Whether you’re a history buff or a fan of fast or slow machines, you won’t be bored.
If you’re a fan of Vinnetou, you’ll definitely find something to do near the Sachsenring. It was in this town that its creator Karl May was born in 1842, so you can visit his birthplace in Hohenstein-Ernsttal, which you can find on May Street - Karl-May-Straße 54.
Not far from the Sachsenring is Zwickau. A town associated with the major motoring brands of Europe. The famous and the less famous ones. You’ll find both together in the Museum of August Horch, founder of the Audi brand. His interwar factory became part of the Eastern Soviet bloc after World War II, as did the whole region. The legendary Trabant plastic cars began to be built in Zwickau. Go to the museum, and you might lose some of your prejudices.
It is open every day, except Mondays, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.
